One Day Connecticut is a love letter to America's most underrated small state. Oyster shacks in Mystic at noon, apizza in New Haven by 6, sunset over Litchfield Hills by 8. We build hyper-practical 24-hour routes so you never waste a weekend again.

One Day Connecticut started in 2019 when two friends tried to show an out-of-state cousin “everything” between a morning train from New York and a midnight bus back. They hit Stonington Borough for sunrise, Gillette Castle for lunch, New Haven for dinner — and realized Connecticut is built for one-day epics: nothing is more than 90 minutes apart.
Today we’re a 6-person crew of photographers, food writers and trail nerds based between New London and New Haven. We walk every route, pay for every clam roll, and update every guide each season. No sponsored rankings. No fluff. Just what fits in one glorious day.

Coast or hills? Pizza or oysters? Ivy or forest? Mix and match — everything is close enough to do two moods in one day.

Stonington oysters at noon, Mystic lobster roll at 2, New Haven white clam apizza at night. The holy trinity, 68 miles apart.

Beinecke Rare Book Library, Yale Art Gallery (free), then RJ Julia in Madison for the perfect paperback souvenir.

Kent Falls, Macedonia Brook, Lake Waramaug loop. Easy trails that feel like Vermont, 2 hours from NYC.

Branford boat tour through pink granite islands, then Stony Creek brewery deck at golden hour.

Steam train + riverboat in Essex, vintage shops in Chester, canoe the Farmington in Collinsville.

Litchfield County backroads: Arethusa ice cream, Bull's Bridge, White Memorial boardwalk at dusk.
Copy-paste ready. Includes drive times, parking pins, and where to pee. All start after 8 AM, end before midnight.
